Department of Conservation, Ministry for the Environment, Ministry of Education and Project Crimson - Cross government, collaborative system design for environmental education for sustainability.

Designed and facilitated a human centred participatory and system design approach for a system to enable and gain traction for the Mātauranga Whakauka Taiao - Environment Education for Sustainability Strategy.

Project Crimson was engaged by the EEfS working group (DoC, MfE, and MoE) to lead a project to raise awareness of EE, demonstrate value and build capability to engage more people in EEfS. Key to this work was developing a system to create more cohesion for all providers, focussing on the wider goal of all New Zealanders working together for a sustainable future; enabling collaboration and removing barriers to doing so.

We took a co-design approach to engage with the working group, youth/students, teachers and providers to understand the current state experience, conditions and barriers for our audience. These insights, systems thinking and lines of enquiry enabled us to collaboratively frame a future state, outcomes and critical levers for change for EEfS in Aotearoa.
